Midwest Masters is having a training camp in conjunction with its annual Border Battle Race Event over the weekend of January 4-6 with Olympian and Midwest native, Kristina Koznick!
This is the 7th straight year Koz has coached with Midwest Masters. Join us on the hill for an intensive day of both GS or SL training, or Race with us on Saturday and have Koz provide video analysis of your runs! On Friday, you can choose which discipline you wish to train as we will have both GS and SL courses set simultaneously and Koz will be switching back and forth between both courses with her coaching. Video coaching is included on Friday.
All video will be posted on our YouTube page!
If you are planning to Race at this event, consider our Pre-Season Border Battle package (only available online until Oct 15) for a massive discount!
8:30 am - Racers arrive and sign in - we will be in The Oakroom all day and you can leave your gear in the room.
10:00 - 12:00 pm - Morning training session - Lots of gate time!
12:30 - 2:00 pm - Video Analysis and Lunch
2:30 - 4:30 pm - Afternoon training session - More gates!
5:00: Video analysis (without Koz)
Video coaching will start approximately 30 minutes after the completion of racing on Saturday (likely between 3 and 4pm) and will run for 1-2 hours depending upon registrations.
Lift tickets are not included in the camp fees. For a discount on lift tickets purchase your lift tickets online at www.aftonalps.org. Racers with Epic Passes can use these to ski at Afton.
When to Arrive:
Arrive any time after 8:00 am until 9:00 am depending on how long it takes you to get ready and check in. We will start the morning training promptly at 10:00 am so be prepared to be on the hill training at that time.
Where to Meet:
We will meet in the Oakwood room to gear up. This is in the main lodge, second level at the opposite end of the floor from Paul's Pub.
Where will training be held?
Training will be held on Inga’s lanes 3 & 4 (Hill 2). These are our normal racing lanes to the right of the lift by the race hills.
What disciplines are we skiing each day?
We will set up a GS and SL course all day both Saturday and Sunday so you can switch between the two, pick one day for GS and another for SL or focus the entire weekend on either GS or SL.
How will the coaching be done?
Koz will be the coach on the hill. We will also have a video camera going both days. We plan to have both the video and Kristina alternating every 30-60 minutes to give ample coaching time for both SL and GS. Koznick will coach in person to the course she is watching and then will do video analysis/coaching over lunch on Friday, and after racing on Saturday. In addition to the lunch video analysis by Koz on Friday we will do further video analysis after the afternoon session without Koz.
